Digital Pedagogy
Digital pedagogy involves classroom practices that require the use of other forms of modern technology incorporated into instruction.
1. I have observed a few digital pedagogy assignments in the classroom. I have seen students use social media as a form of classroom instruction and I have also seen virtual classrooms used. Interactive maps have become popular in social studies classrooms, and students are keeping up with classroom happenings and announcements through sites like Edmodo or Google Classroom.
2. For the teacher who is cautious about incorporating digital pedagogy, there are many ways to incorporate it in small ways. You can start by using blogging assignments in the classroom. By blogging, students have a safe digital outlet to share their thoughts and expressions.
3. According to the Digital Pedagogy article, there are various training courses that teachers can take to work to incorporate digital pedagogy in the classroom. These can be found Khan Academy, Udacity and Coursera.
4. Digital pedagogy can have many positives and negatives. It is not the only way that students should be learning. Digital pedagogy can offer good outlets for students who learn in different ways. It can offer students a way to expand their knowledge through engaging sites.
5. Digital pedagogy can prepare these students for life because our world is ever-changing. We are constantly adapting to different practice and new technologies. We need to get our students to start thinking creatively. Our students are going to be working in jobs that have not even been created yet. They will need to find a way to access and use different tools to broaden their horizons. it also teaches our students that they should never stop learning.
6. Not all pedagogy should be digital. The digital pedagogy can add an extra element to the content. It can provide for the engagement of a topic and another way to look at it.
7. Digital pedagogy fails when it is not relevant to the lives of the students. If teachers are not implementing digital pedagogy in the classroom properly, it can be very difficult for students. If students are not understanding the digital topics, they can become frustrated with it, they will not see the value in it.
